Steel Warriors was founded by Ben Wintour and Pia Fontes in 2017.

As a charity, we look to bring down the number of young people carrying knives in the UK.

Steel Warriors melts down knives taken off London's streets and recycles the steel into outdoor calisthenics gyms.

We want to offer young people a free space that not only gets them talking about knife crime, but also provides them with more physical confidence to walk the streets unarmed.

The Steel Warriors gym raises awareness of knife crime whilst providing a safe, positive community space and an outlet for young people, helping to take knives off the streets and drive home the message that carrying one is more likely to ruin your life than save it.
— Sophie Linden (Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime)
The Damilola Taylor Trust fully supports the development of Steel Warriors. We feel like this project will be of great positive advantage for London’s youth and it will help to develop their minds and channel their energy through positive activity.

What is calisthenics?

We are making considerations to avoid building with knives that have been used in conflict. All knives used have been discounted as evidence and are set for destruction.
