Safeguarding Children & Young People Policy

How we keep everyone under 18 safe at our gyms, classes and programmes, and what happens when someone raises a concern.

  • Applies to everyone working for Steel Warriors: trustees, staff, coaches, freelancers and volunteers.
  • All staff and freelancers working with young people hold an enhanced DBS check and complete NSPCC safeguarding training.
  • A named Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy manage every concern, with a senior leader on call seven days a week.
  • We take a trauma-informed approach and work with the police, local authorities and MASH teams when a child is at risk.
  • Covers recognising abuse, neglect and exploitation (including county lines and child criminal exploitation), mental health, self-harm and online safety.
